5 Great Foundations That Cost Under ?20

5 Great Foundations That Cost Under ?20

It used to take a lot to sway me when it came to budget foundations. As a self-confessed ?foundation addict?, much of my funds were splashed on high-end options, simply because I’d yet to find budget-friendly alternatives to truly rave about. Thankfully, in 2017, you don’t need to spend big to win big when it comes to foundation. Times have changed; the technology of makeup and skincare has advanced rapidly for both the high-end and high-street market – so much so, that often two vastly different brands will use similar ingredients that work to the same effect. This result has resulted in an array of complexion perfecting foundations that work as well?their designer counterparts but cost half the price. Here’s our pick of five favourites:

L?Ore?al Paris True Match Foundation, €14.99

It’s not just the variety of spot-on shades we love (and they go extra, extra pale), but the way this product blends for an invisible, complexion-perfecting performance. Great coverage too, and this will stay put however those with oily t-zones should add a dusting of powder to finish.

Bourjois?City Radiance Foundation, €12.95

This has a light, dewy, finish, yet it’s long-wearing – it completely blends into the skin and looks so natural, you’d be hard pressed to think you were wearing much at all. The finish is much like the Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua in that it doesn’t sink into fine lines, wrinkles or acne marks. It has almost a gel-like texture in that it’s cooling and moisturising once applied – not a patch of flaky skin in sight and, therefore, suitable for all skin types.

Maybelline Dream Satin Liquid Foundation €11.99

Many of us are still suckers when it comes to full coverage, and this one gives us that, without weighing down the skin. It has a light feeling, a glowy finish and minimises the effect of pores.

Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation, €9.99

This is mine and IMAGE.i.e., Editor Ellie Balfe’s favourite of the lot. It’s silky, satin texture with a medium coverage leaves you with a dewy finish, and the shade ranges are superb. This one?tops even my beloved Chanel and is four times less expensive.

Catrice Even Skin Tone Beautifying Foundation, €8.50

Surprised at this? So were we but Catrice are doing many things right in the beauty department at the moment, and this foundation is one of them. The coverage is medium to full (without looking cakey), and it’s perfect for oily to combination skin as it has a mattifying effect.
