8 Concealers To Covet

Concealers are a necessary step in any foolproof beauty routine. To create a perfect base, one should be used ideally before you apply your foundation of choice. Basically, concealer is like your BFF; it covers for you whenever you need it. And as spring isn’t too far away, hopefully you’ll soon be reaching for any of the below and a light BB cream, as opposed to the?heavier foundations we’ve been sporting all winter.

Whether you want to banish under-eye bags, cover that annoying blemish or correct any other imperfections, there are a range of options on the market to suit any budget. We’ve chosen eight?favourites that are gems when it comes to concealing what you don’t want visible to the naked eye?

1. Laura Mercier Undercover Pot, €42

LM Concealer

This travel-friendly pot contains two shades of concealer and a setting powder, making it the perfect pick anyone on the go. This one is pricey, but the multi-toned yellow shades make this one super-effective at concealing dark circles and red marks on the skin. It lasts ages as you only need a small amount for sufficient coverage, and its accompanying setting powder keeps it in place nicely.

2. NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer, €28

NARS Concealer

Got redness? Dark circles? Blemishes? This concealer by NARS provides a full coverage and can virtually make any imperfection disappear. This one is perfect for the upcoming party season as once it goes on it doesn’t budge. Its thick formula conceals blemishes, under eye circles, and dark spots, making it an excellent overall option for those in search of a flawless complexion. They also have 20 colour choices available so you will find your perfect match.

3. MAC Studio Finish SPF 35 Concealer, €20

MAC Concealer

Unlike a lot of concealers, this one contains an SPF of 35, which is a big plus in our book. This creamy formula glides on with ease and it is also water-resistant, fragrance-free, and contains a multitude of shades for you to choose from. This one is heavy-duty so it is ideal for perhaps wearing with a lighter foundation if your skin needs a breather.

4. Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles Treatment Concealer, €11.99

In terms of a budget-friendly option, you won’t find much better. Living up to its name, this surprisingly lightweight concealer evens out dark circles and works wonders on blemishes. The convenient sponge tip makes it easy to blend evenly, another bonus.

5. Estee Lauder Double Wear Concealer, €27

Similar to MAC, this Lightweight creme formula creates the perfected look of flawless skin. It literally covers EVERYTHING but doesn’t feel heavy once applied. As with all the double wear formulations, it provides medium buildable coverage that won’t slip, slide or melt away. It’s also oil-free and water, perspiration and humidity-resistant. Fans of its accompanying foundation will love this. It is the ideal lightweight, HD concealer.

6. Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer, €4.79

This one is an under-rated gem to be found in a Boots near you. As it costs less than €5, you would be blamed for having doubts about its lasting effects, but this one ticks many boxes. Available in four colours (Fair, Light, Medium and Deep) it is transfer proof, and is a highlighting and concealing manna from heaven. The creamy formulation is both easily blendable and buildable so you’ll be waving adieu to those dark circles in no time. It doesn’t quite have the same staying power as its pricier counterparts, but for under a fiver that is not the worst complaint to have.

7. Yves Saint Laurent Touche ?clat Concealer, €35

This one is a firm favourite here at IMAGE; it hasn’t garnered a cult following for nothing. You can apply this on bare skin or over make-up. It not only conceals, its unique highlighting effect means you look instantly radiant and fresh. It can be used as a highlighter or concealer (or both), and we particularly love how it brightens the eye area. It is pricey, but worth it.

8. Benefit Erase Paste, €27.50

923721

This one is thick and heavy, but it does the job. It’s probably a tad too dense for the delicate under-eye area but covers dark spots, redness and blemishes like a dream. It comes with its own mini spatula to ensure you get just the right amount per application and though it is the guts of €30, it will stretch because a little truly goes a long way. It comes in three shades – light, medium or dark – and is the one to turn to for an emergency cover-up situation.
