How To: Reduce Lines & Wrinkles

How To: Reduce Lines & Wrinkles

Lines and wrinkles are inevitable and come with age, occurring when the layers of skin no longer adhere to each other as tightly as they would have done throughout the?teens and twenties. They are the result of slowing collagen production and less blood circulating around the skin’s upper areas. They’re not all bad; lines signify personality, expression and life experience – you can’t smile without a few little creases appearing around the eyes. But if you want to do something about them, there are plenty of options.

What can you do?

Keep skin hydrated – drink plenty of water.
Limit caffeine and sugar intake.
Massage the face regularly to stimulate blood flow to the skin’s surface.
Sleep.
Deep lines can be treated with Botox and fillers, depending on the line and area.

The treatment that helps?
Hydrafacial

A rejuvenating favourite with celebrities, this works on a number of different levels to offer a multi-step solution to ageing. After cleansing, a vacuum-based exfoliation tip works over the skin’s surface before infusing it with a cocktail of serums, including antioxidants and hyaluronic acid, to hydrate and plump the epidermis. Additional elements can be added as required to improve tone, texture, and other ageing concerns. Results are immediate and visible; €150 for one hour at Amara, Lower Ground Floor, 77 Merrion Square, Dublin 2, 01 676 1074; amara.ie.

For your make-up bag

Armani Crema Nuda, €175. A new generation tinted skin treatment that hydrates, blurs imperfections and illuminates the complexion.
