Transeasonal Makeup

As we transition between the seasons, we’re still daring to bare. No, we’re not still lounging in bikinis in our gardens of an evening, mojitos in hand – well, not all of us. We’re talking makeup, and set against a colour-pop lip, a nude eye looks modern and fresh. Maximum impact, minimum effort?- just the way we like it.

Start with glowing, healthy skin?- nothing too made-up or “done”. We love?Kiehl’s?Actively Correcting and Beautifying BB Cream, or?the Moisture Surge CC Cream from Clinique.

Perfectly polished brows are key to the look. Use a waterproof pencil in a shade lighter than your brow colour to define the arch and fill in any gaps. Finish by brushing into place with a little gel – something like the double-ended?Smashbox Brow Tech To Go?would be ideal.

Eyelids should be bare, though you can smooth out discolouration with a product that matches your skintone.?MAC Paintpot in Painterly,?Urban Decay Foxy?or?Benefit Lemon aid?are all good picks. Only add mascara if you must, and keep it to one coat.

Now for the fun part?- your pout! Matte or glossy, anything goes. We’re loving fuchsia, crimson and orange, but there’s just one rule: go bright or go home.

You?can?use a lipliner and brush, but frankly, who has the time? We like it straight from the tube – or for even greater ease of use, try a lip crayon.?NARS Satin Lip Pencil in Luxembourg, a cheery raspberry red, is a current favourite.

A dab of cream blush and you’re done. Now wasn’t that easy? And don’t you look great? See, we told ya!

Find Kiehl’s and Smashbox in Arnotts, Urban Decay in Debenhams and MAC, Benefit, NARS?and Clinique in Brown Thomas
