Now that we’ve digested the BAFTA winners along with the red carpet hits and misses, it’s time to hone in on the beauty efforts of those in attendance. Without a doubt, the most popular trend of the night was a strong red lip (see Dakota Johnson, Laura Haddock and Kate Winslet) while a select few stars – such as Saoirse Ronan, who we think reigned supreme in every sartorial regard last night – chose a paler pout and a smouldering smokey eye.?We’ve been giving props to Saoirse’s beauty routine a lot of late, and while she most often keeps things paired back, it’s nice to see her strike out with a bolder look, which makes her blue eyes positively pop.

Elsewhere, classic Hollywood glamour was the order of the night – Isla Fisher looked unbelievable – and if these stars are anything to go by, contouring is definitely on the way out.

A slightly more gothic edge also featured with the likes of Alicia Vikander choosing a darker, berry coloured lip and you can always rely on Rooney Mara to bring her ethereal A-game with those enviable gothic brows. Last but by no means least, can we take a moment to appreciate how genuinely beautiful Dame Maggie Smith looks? She’s 81 years of age. Her blow-dry is on point. Now, we’re off to practice our best Hollywood red lip and find out the secret to Dame Maggie’s youthful appearance.
