A Streetcar Named Desire

A Streetcar Named Desire

A Streetcar Named Desire, like many of Tennessee Williams’s works, is one of those plays that we are all on some level familiar with. This is chiefly thanks to his timeless creation in the form of Blanche Du Bois. And yet Ethan McSweeny’s production has been commended for its clever and subtle subversion of the types and characters one risks being overly familiar with. With an all-star cast composed of Garrett Lombard as Stanley, Catherine Walsh as Stella, and with Lia Williams as Blanche Dubois, it has been receiving rave reviews from all-quarters and has begun even to add show dates. An unmissable production of a play that doesn’t have a single throw-away, weak moment in it.
