And now with news that just makes us love them that bit more, the glamorous couple have rescued/adopted another pup in desperate need of a home – and have given him as a gift to the Hollywood actor’s parents who recently lost their own dog.
Nate – a scruffy, 3-year-old terrier – was rescued from a hoarder’s home last winter and arrived at the animal rescue starved and with birth defects, including a barrel chest and a bad leg. For nine straight months, the rescue centre said potential adopters gave him the cold shoulder (how?!) as he received surgery to try to fix his leg. How could anyone ignore this little guy?
“When we took Nate to adoption events, people would stare and kids would point,” the animal group explained in a Facebook post. “The lowest point came when an adopter cried when she met him and said she would be depressed the rest of her life if she had to look at him every day.”
However, Clooney made sure Nate got his happy ending.
The actor saw the dog on the LuvFurMutts website and had his assistant call them to adopt him for his parents, who were said to be “overjoyed” with the new addition to their family. How nice is that?
Previously, the Clooneys adopted a basset hound named Millie, and a cocker spaniel called Louie.
“They could have any dog in the world but they chose to adopt a dog who was crippled and could have been with LuvFurMutts for life. It’s truly a fairy-tale ending for Prince Nate . . . or should we say . . . a perfect Hollywood movie ending!”
We’re suckers for a happy ending.
