Ben Affleck Speaks Out About Split From Jennifer Garner

Ben Affleck Speaks Out About Split From Jennifer Garner

When Jennifer Garner opened up to Vanity Fair about her divorce from her husband of ten years Ben Affleck, we were filled with a newfound respect for the talented actress.?There was to be no headline-grabbing back-and-forth between the former couple all through their painfully public divorce, only dignified silence from both so as to shield their children from as much as possible. Garner was the first to open up about the split, saying she didn’t regret a single second of their marriage, that she’d do it all again and other lovely things. Despite the ending, it was more than obvious that she loved and respected the father of her three children, and now Ben Affleck has responded to Garner’s interview in an equally charming manner.

He was, he said, reluctant to discuss the separation?but told The New York Times that it was as Garner had said; things were more than good between them and that the public appearances were definitely not for show.

?Jen’s great. She’s a great person,” the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice actor said. “We’re on great terms. I just saw her this morning, so that’s the reality that I live in.”

Affleck confirmed that he had a heads-up about the Vanity Fair piece. ?She felt like she wanted to discuss it and get it out there and get it over with,” the actor recalled. “So she could say, ?Look, I already talked about it – I don’t want to do it again.? and she’s allowed to talk about it. It’s fine.”

Sure, they went on a ski holiday together recently, and Affleck said they’ll be doing so again as Garner and their children plan to visit him during the filming his movie of Justice League so they can vacation in Europe as a family.

Despite Affleck coming off as an enigmatic (albeit distant) figure in Garner’s interview, she shut down the cliched Nanny Affair rumour and was adamant?that both were to blame for the end of the relationship.

?I didn’t marry the big fat movie star; I married him,? Garner explained. ?And I would go back and remake that decision. I ran down the beach to him, and I would again. You can’t have these three babies and so much of what we had. He’s the love of my life. What am I going to do about that? He’s the most brilliant person in any room, the most charismatic, the most generous. He’s just a complicated guy. I always say, ?When his sun shines on you, you feel it.? But when the sun is shining elsewhere, it’s cold. He can cast quite a shadow.?

?You have to have two people to dance a marriage. My heart’s a little on the tender side right now, but I know that, with time and some perspective, I’ll have a clearer sense of where I let the system down, because there’s no way I get off in this,? she said.

They are still friends, they clearly still have a lot of love for each other, and you know what? We’re still so sad they called it a day.

Current Hollywood couples, take note because if you must, that is how to’separate amicably.
