“Seek and ye shall find” should be the motto above the door of this much buzzed about, just-off-the-beaten-path bistro. The racket of Camden Street dissolves after just a few steps down Grantham Street, home to Camden Kitchen. As if to reward you for coming a little out of your way, the menu goes that extra mile too, with lots of personal touches and intriguing surprises from chef/owner Padraic Hayden. Don’t let the simple setting fool you – Hayden has held his own in some of Ireland’s hottest kitchens, including l’Ecrivain, One Pico and The Dylan hotel. And a little bit of that luxe finds its way onto his menu where citrus-cured trout comes with potato cake, caviar and crème fraîche. The homemade asparagus raviolis, with summer vegetables and baby spinach, is unfussy, expertly crafted and a perfect example of what makes this place so special. Seal the deal with something sweet – we can vouch for the lavender and honey madeleines with buttermilk ice cream.
What to drink Surprisingly, everything on the wine list is available by the glass so indulge and try something different with every course.

Perfect pedigree More and more accomplished Irish chefs are opting for low-fi settings while still creating dishes high on wow factor. With experience at Luttrellstown Castle and L’Ecrivain, Padraic Hayden’s approach is bang on trend.
