Cara Delevingne becomes the new face of Topshop

Cara Delevingne has been announced as the new face of Topshop, taking over from the inimitable Kate. The 21-year-old will take up her new role towards the end of the summer. Although Topshop have yet to comment on the move, she will supposedly be starring in the brand’s Fall/Winter 2014 campaign globally, thereby becoming the first solo face to do so.

The news comes after reports this week of Cara having fallen asleep through not one, but two Vogue interviews. Apparently the model falls asleep frequently and everywhere. Vogue writer Plum Sykes wrote, ?Dear reader, to misquote Oscar Wilde, can I say that to oversleep once for a Vogue interview may be regarded as a misfortune, but to oversleep twice looks like carelessness”? Sykes went on to reference photographer Tim Walker, who was reported as saying that he once did a shoot with Cara where she slept for seven hours. In response to snooze-gate, Cara went on a Twitter rant, accusing the fashion industry as being nasty and unsupportive – ?All I can say is that I work extremely hard and ‘sleeping’ is proof that sometimes I work too hard. I apologise for being so ambitious.?

After a year of walking for everyone from Chanel to St. Laurent, whilst being a Mulberry and Burberry ambassadress, as well as designing a capsule collection for DKNY, Cara’s snoozy ways make us wonder whether ?you snooze, you lose? has any truth in it at all.
