Cloud Castle Lake Play Whelan’s Tonight

Cloud Castle Lake in a garden.

Cloud Castle Lake is one of those names that you’re going to be hearing a lot of in the coming months. The young Dublin band dropped their debut EP Dandelion yesterday and the critics are very happy, as you too will be when you stream their four songs below – Dandelion is especially bewitching and romantic. CCL been teasing music fans for years now with some pretty amazing and intimate gigs as well as support slots with Lisa Hannigan in recent years. They’ve featured in NME, Pitchfork and British Vogue. With their EP launch gig tonight in Whelan’s you’ll finally see what all the fuss is about (it’s their cinematic ambition and lead singer Daniel McAuley’s falsetto).

And they’ve got some serious fashion credentials – always a plus in our eyes – so don’t expect the usual scruffy musos. The boys are only back from London Fashion Week where they provided the music and vocals for Simone Rocha’s amazing Spring/Summer €14 show in St Andrew’s church in Holburn.

They played her Autumn/Winter show last spring in the Tate Turbine Hall where only Ms. Anna Wintour herself was sitting front row – Daisy Lowe was at last week’s gig – so you’ll be joining pretty exalted listening company. Supporting them is Somerville, another rising star we’re keen to catch live.

Catch them in Whelan’s tonight. Tickets are €10.
