Dublin Quick Bites

Taco Taco

1. Taco Taco, 14 Dame Court, Dublin 2
No reservations required or accepted at this popular popup. At first glance the menu is a little pricey, but once the food and drinks come out you’ll understand what you’re paying for – the portions are huge, the tastes more-ish.

2. Bunsen Burger, 36 Wexford Street, Dublin 2 (and coming this summer to Temple Bar)
Aberdeen Angus from FX Buckley nestles between Amish dinner rolls (ie buns) from a bakery in Tallaght to create the best burger in town. Bunsen’s strength lies in its robust flavours, its industrial décor and let’s not forget its geography- this place is equally perfect for a bite before a gig at Whelan’s or a later respite from the nearby club scene.

3. Considered Café, 35-36 Drury Street, Dublin 2
Settle in for fresh, healthy salads and sandwiches or homemade baked goods with a proper coffee at a big communal farmhouse table amidst the stunning Helen James homeware range for Dunnes Stores – it’s the best break from Grafton St shopping imaginable. We’re big fans of the granola and yoghurt with pomegranates, drizzled with rose syrup and that yummy tomato balsamic relish elevates the humble cheese toastie.

4. Hatch & Sons, 15 Stephen’s Green, Dublin 2
Pause from sightseeing (the Little Museum of Dublin’s right upstairs and the hop on/off Dublin tour stop just across the way) for some Irish home cooking, which can be counted on to highlight the very best of local produce. Our fave? The St Tola goat cheese and roast pear salad with candied walnuts. And the Burren smokehouse salmon board. That’s some fine brown bread.

5. Avoca, 11-13 Suffolk Street, Dublin 2
A stone’s throw from the Book of Kells, this café set the bar for hearty home-cooking over a decade ago. First timers marvel at the breadth of choice and wholesomeness of the menu, locals appreciate being able to get in and out in a flash without compromising their tastebuds or health. Takeaway with impunity.
