Helena Bonham Carter Opens Up About Spilt From Tim Burton

After 13 years of relationship?bliss and one of the quirkiest unions?around, we were genuinely shocked when one of our favourite all-time pairings, Helena Bonham Carter and Tim Burton called it quits. It really broke our hearts.

However, an ending doesn’t always have to be doom and gloom. In the world of celebrity where we see so many relationships take a nasty turn (Jessica Simpson’s recent snipe about her previous?union with Nick Lachey didn’t go unnoticed), the Sweeney Todd star has revealed that it is very possible to stay on good terms with an ex and that sometimes the end can mean an even stronger bond for the future.

“I could write a thesis on what’s happened, and it is all-absorbing when a relationship breaks down, but I think we’re coming through it,” Carter said an interview with Red magazine. This is the first time she has publicly spoken of their surprise separation in December of last year.

“I think we’ll have something very precious still,” she said of their relationship.?The pair has two children together, 12-year-old son Billy and seven-year-old daughter Nell.

The actress had genuinely touching words to say about their thirteen years as a couple: ?We did find each other. And really, the mark of a successful relationship shouldn’t be whether you’re there forever after. Sometimes you’re not meant to be forever together. Sometimes you have to come to terms with the fact that that was it. But that was a gift, a massive gift. We gave each other children and a lot more else.?

Post #Relationshipgoals anyone?

She?also used the interview to clear up one long-standing rumour about the couple?that they never lived together. FYI, they also never married, contrary to what many reports would have you believe.

?We might be better, and still be able to give to each other, but not necessarily living together,? Carter said of the break-up before adding, ?Which we did, by the way, because everyone seemed to think we didn’t, but that was a load of myth.? Darn, we thought their living-apart-but-still-obviously-adoring-each-other set up was really impressive.

We also love her whole thought process behind the subject of ageing.

?We’re getting dilapidated, but you can’t control that, so why worry? I’m more conscious of the kids? childhood going, because that goes so fast; it’s a bit like watching one of those time lapses. There’s no pressing pause. You’ve just got to say goodbye all the time, but also say hello. You must remember to say hello. So I’m going to say hello to my 5-0 – because otherwise when I’m 60 I’ll be going, ?Oh, you should’ve enjoyed your fifties.’?

We think it is heart warming that Carter still thinks so fondly of her time with Burton but is it wrong to hope for a reunion?
