According to reports in the past 24 hours, ‘The Boss” Bruce Springsteen is about to announce two shows at Dublin’s Croke Park this summer. The rumour mill went into overdrive on Monday when GAA’s Páraic Duffy confirmed another gig in addition to the already sold-out show from the Script would be announced soon.
A ‘source’ told the Evening Herald that the act, who was previously rumoured to be Ed Sheeran, is a “well-known American musician whose songs include ‘Born in the USA’ and who appeals to all ages.” Details of the first show are due to be announced on Friday, with a second show announced on Saturday morning.
There are doubts about how true the rumour is, especially considering E-Street Band members Nils Lofgren and Cindy Mizelle are both touring with other acts this summer. The delayed release of his latest album as well as the fact Springsteen has apparently refused to play Croke Park in the past would add weight to the argument against the truth behind the potential announcements.
However, despite the doubts, we can’t help being extremely excited about the prospect of the Boss returning to Dublin for the first time in three years. If it does happen, we’ll be first in line for tickets!
Would you welcome a return to Dublin from the Boss? If not, who would you like to see play Croker instead?
