Lennox

What is it about Lennox Cafe that keeps it eternally in? The eclectic yet inviting d?cor? The always good, always reasonable menu? The laid-back arty vibe? It’s all of these, plus a serious slug of je ne sais quoi – the magic ingredient that all? restaurants strive for but few ever find. A tasty weekday spot for breakfast and lunch, this Portobello haven has become the place for lazy weekend munching. We can’t decide what we love more – the gorgeous food (from the popular Eggs Benedict with mint hollandaise to the deliciously retro crab & avocado salad, to the hot and spicy Rancheros and Quesadillas and house faves like the terrific Lennox fish & chips); the open-fire comfort; the super efficient and jolly service or the first-class people watching (the place is a mosh pit every weekend). Settle in under the quirky chandeliers, treat yourself to a glass of Prosecco and just, well, relax and hang out. Nuff said.

Top table Downstairs, where it’s bustling and intimate – you’ll really get to know your neighbour. Head upstairs if you hanker for more peace and elbow room.

The look Cute and cool in equal dollops and everything has a homespun feel from the floral wallpaper to the black and white prints and vintage mirrors .

The crowd A stylish mix of young hipsters and laidback locals. Expect to see both Isabel Marant high tops and serious running trainers under the chintzy chairs.

In the summer Snaffle a table out front, sip your soy latte and watch the world go by.

Top tip Get there early for brunch, they don’t take bookings and the queue is out the door every weekend. But don’t let that put you off.? It’s well worth the wait.
