Yay! Or maybe nay…
Rumours of a new Sex and the City movie come round as regular as the changing of the seasons. It’s happening! Never happening! The girls are all on board! Or they hate each other to death and are collectively holding up SJP’s pay cheque! Speculation has been swirling about the gals-night-and-wallets-out franchise ever since the second movie outing tortured critics and disappointed devoted fans. Should the creators leave it be and not flog a dead horse, albeit one that has been made into a designer handbag? Or could a third film reclaim the much-loved legacy of SATC?
Well ladies, it seems like we might be in for a return to the eateries of Manhattan via Brooklyn – after all they need to check in on Miranda.
According to MTV.com, Jennifer Hudson just indicated that a production may be in the works. “Somebody just came to me talking about that. So if it’s in the talks, it might happen. So look for it… Look for Louise from St. Louis,” she said, referring to the PA character she played in the first movie.
Last February SATC producer Michael Patrick King also heavily hinted at another movie. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly about the tenth anniversary of the Sex and the City series finale he said: “Sarah Jessica and I both know what the final chapter is… That doesn’t mean it will or should be told, but I do think there’s one story left.”
What may that one story be? Will Carrie and Big start a family? Could Samantha finally embrace her innate fashion sense and set up a Nasty Gal rival? Perhaps Miranda will start her own law firm and become besties with Alicia Florrick of The Good Wife? Maybe Charlotte will suddenly become interesting.
