Proof That Robert Downey Jr Is A Hero In Real Life

The-MCU-Diary-Iron-Man

We’ve had our moments with actor Robert Downey Jr. His reputation for having an over-sized ego and being a tad aloof and too cool for school haven’t been lost on us, but this is one public figure who has turned over a new leaf (he has overcome his troubled past and issues with alcoholism etc.), and has shown with a few kind gestures that he can be a real-life hero to others, particularly his younger Iron Man fans.

Remember that time he gave young Alex, the boy who was born with a partial limb the surprise of his life? RDJ remained in Iron Man character as Tony Stark when he met the seven-year-old as part of the Collective Project, which is the project behind Limbitless (which seeks to source prosthetic limbs for those in need), and we’re sure he made his dreams come true.

Well, the actor has given another young Iron Man fan the gift of a lifetime, by reaching out to cheer up seven-year-old Daniel, a very special little boy suffering from Cystic Fibrosis – dressed in an epic Tiger costume.

ICYMI: Iron Man Makes One Armed Boy’s Dream Come True

Daniel’s mum initially reached out to Robert Downey Jr. on Instagram – and the surprising reply she got once again proved that RDJ/Tony Stark does have a very large heart.

“This is my son Daniel, and he has Cystic Fibrosis (CF), he is seven years old and wants nothing more to meet his idol Robert Downey Jr (aka Iron Man) as he has managed to get past the bullies he faces from day to day by telling them he too has an extra special port in his chest much like Iron Man has his arc reactor,” she wrote in the post. “I am sharing this in the hope that Mr Stark (as Daniel calls him out of the suit) could find a way to contact me on here as Daniel could really do with a little lift at the moment after a child at school has told him that all children with CF die.” Who would utter those words to a sick seven-year-old? It’s heartbreaking, but this story does have a happy ending.

If this reaches him and Daniel could get a reply I hope that it could help him through his stay in hospital as it is starting to take its toll on him.

Like the trooper he is, RDJ responded dressed like this, along with a special invite for Daniel to the LA premiere of his latest film Captain America: Civil War as his guest.

RDJ is making dreams come true for young kids by embracing his superhero characters and for that, we salute him.
