Ren?e Zellweger Opens Up About Her Changed Appearance

Ren?e Zellweger Opens Up About Her Changed Appearance

A little over a year ago, the world gasped as we caught a look at the person who?used to be Ren?e Zellweger. Stepping out on a red carpet for the first time in October 2014, the star was virtually unrecognisable either due to a botched make-up job or perhaps, plastic surgery. It wasn’t that she looked that bad, she just looked so different. Gone were the sultry eyes, the apple-like cheeks and that smouldering, cheeky look she was so well known for on the red carpet, replaced with features that made her look older than her years. Despite forever knowing that we should love the skin we’re in, most of us would agree that there is probably one thing we’d like to see changed about our appearances, so we’d never condone anyone for making such a choice. Whether it’s down to our individual insecurities, a fear of ageing or a longstanding dislike towards the features we were born with, there are myriad reasons why women opt to go under the knife and probably more than usual when your looks are placed under constant public scrutiny as Zellweger’s are.

As Bridget Jones 3 is just about to be released, she?is starting the press rounds for the film, and has opened up about the comments regarding her changed appearance last year.

The actress says she decidedly ignored the conversation.?Zellweger told Entertainment Weekly in the magazine’s new cover story (where she looks much more like her natural self), that she focused on the positive support she received from fans rather than the scrutiny of her looks.

“All I know is that people were sending support, which means that I must have needed it,” she said. “When people ask me, ‘How did that [the scrutiny] feel?’ I’ll say, ‘I don’t know’ and I prefer it that way.”

?”I know it sounds pretty unlikely that a person might be able to make herself, keep clear of those words or of that experience, but I have and it takes effort. But I have succeeded.?What good comes from knowing that something like that has happened? Less fear.”

She previously said she was happy people though she looked different as she was in a better place in her life.”I’m living a different, happy, more fulfilling life, and I’m thrilled that perhaps it shows.”

We say fair play to her for not obviously giving two hoots about speculation and just living her life as she wants, but we’re also happy that she looks a little more like the?Ren?e we’re used to seeing in the main picture above. ?
