Social Media Put A Ring On It

TIME have come up with an App that can predict when you should get married based on your friends on Facebook. Comparing social media to Valentines Day as the two greatest sources of “envy and loneliness” the cheerful folks over at TIME have developed an application that determines whether you missed the boat or are potentially treading the child-bride line based on the ages and ‘relationship statuses’ of your friends. The disclaimer however, is that only about 25% of people on Facebook list either fact about themselves, and many people invent spoof facts. The current median for marriage in the US is 27 for women and 29 for men. The fact that the amount of people listing their marital statuses is not entirely representative of reality means that the average age is probably higher by a small margin in this test. Based on a preliminary look at our own Facebook accounts, where the most personal information available seems to be “Divorced from Girthy McNotits”  and a few more in a similar vein, it looks like we’re clear of any incumbent danger of getting hitched.
