Film Fatale Events need to be permanently on your radar.
Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire were a dance and acting duo that have rightfully claimed a premiere chapter in the history of old Hollywood. They made ten smash hit musicals together and were the faces, and feet, of post-crash 1930s America, tapping along to iconic hits such as ‘Night and Day’, ‘I Won’t Dance’ and “ They Can’t Take That Away From Me’.
This Saturday vintage movie and fashion aficionados Film Fatale are putting on the ritz and a screening of Swing Time, one of Astaire and Roger’s later pairings. A screwball comedy with Astaire as a happy-go-luck gambler and Rogers playing an uptight dance instructor, it soon transpires they have excellent footwork chemistry and then the iconic dance numbers begin. Scored by Jerome Kern, the movie won an Oscar for Best Original Song for the effortlessly lovely ‘The Way You Look Tonight’. Film Fatale is one of our favourite ways to unwind with an old fashioned cocktail and also offers a great excuse to drown in all those complimentary 1940s style dresses while kicking back in the cosy Sugar Club on Leeson Street. Gladrags are near obligatory and nostalgic glamour a guarantee.
