There’s A Friends Musical Happening

Are you the world’s biggest friends fanatic? Well, there’s a Friends musical on the way! But before you quit your job, book your flights and pour your life savings into the trip of a lifetime, it’s not quite as amazing as it sounds. It’s unauthorised and it’s a parody of your favourite sitcom. Though we’re not sure how something could parody what’s already an incomparably funny show. Don’t parodies only work when they’re poking fun at something serious?

If you’re so obsessed with Rachel, Monica, Phoebe, Joey, Chandler and Ross (poor Ross was always last wasn’t he?), you’ll no doubt still want to know the details.

Featuring nobody well known, Friends: The One Where They Sing is a tribute show running from June 10 at the MCL Chicago Theatre, based on the first season of the hit TV show.

Speaking to Buzzed, the director Eli Golden said ?I am a huge lover of musicals and really wanted to tell a great story while staying true to the source material. This is a musical for fans by the fans, both of Friends and musicals in general.”

?I started writing this musical roughly three years ago and have had the songs stuck in my head ever since. Between the cast, the band, and production team, we have stacked this show with funny and talented people, and that atmosphere is infectious.?

Anyone associated with the original show has yet to comment.
