Video: Darkness Into Light

Video: Darkness Into Light

Pieta House are an amazing organisation who help and counsel those experiencing suicidal and/or self-harming thoughts. Each year their Darkness Into Light run takes place around the country and the 2014 run is this coming Saturday, May the 10th.? Beginning at 4.15am and lasting until day breaks, people literally run into the light all in the name of people who are suffering with the stresses of life that can sometimes pose powerful problems for them. Many of the participants run for someone they know or knew, but all of them run with a strong sense of solidarity for those in emotional pain of any sort. It’s a moving and poignant thing to see the hordes of people in bright yellow t-shirts as they make their way through the dark, and the sense of joy (tinged with raw emotion) as dawn breaks and the light spreads is wonderful to behold.

Take a few minutes to watch this video of last years? event in the Phoenix Park, but better yet, click here for more information and get involved yourself.
