Irish interiors are?riding a wave of good taste and cutting-edge excitement at the moment. Between innovations like the much-lauded Makers & Brothers and dedicated programmes like Irish Design 2015, the industry is a discerning delight.
The latest brand to join the stable of Things We Like is Amelia, a new interiors company from marketer-turned-pilot-turned-artist Ciara O?Toole, which incorporates aviation with contemporary furniture. Ciara’s name might be familiar to you as the author of Going Solo on Lake Como, a memoir about how she learned to fly a seaplane in the Italian countryside. The glamour is very much 100%.
Ciara’s next move comprises of a five-piece capsule collection of contemporary furniture, created using parts from decommissioned aircraft. She’s hand-sourced by Ciara all the pieces, which includes twelve-seater conference or dining table is crafted using the engine casing of a Boeing 737 and a cabinet crafted from the leading edge of the wing of a Boeing 737 finished and set in a base of hand-polished Connemara marble, mined from the Twelve Bens Mountains, as well as three other unique pieces.
