New master of Holles Street Dr Rhona Mahony launched the National Maternity Hospital Trust in tremendous style, with what has become known as one of the best nights out of 2012. Fashion shows may be plentiful, but this evening at the National Gallery of Ireland was exceptional. Over 500 women supported the event and gathered for champagne and delicious canap’s of sushi and smoked salmon blinis as they chatted with friends. A fashion show, styled by Catherine Condell, and presented by Off The Rails presenters Sonya Lennon and Brendan Courtney, commenced with clothes from Brown Thomas, Khan, Diffusion, Marks & Spencer, Louis Kennedy and vintage specialists The Goddess Room. A raffle followed with prizes including precious shopping vouchers, Aer Lingus flights, dinner at Chapter One and Wild Goose, and a stay at Kelly’s Resort Hotel. By the end of the proceedings, it was clear that the committee member Jane Mahony, Cathriona Edwards, Michelle Burke and Marina Bleahan had excelled in their task in raising funds for an ultrasound scanner for the Neonatal Unit.
