#FashMash, the global community dedicated to uniting pioneering minds from the worlds of fashion and technology, launched its third official event series in Dublin last night.
Already existing in both London and New York, the aim is to encourage open conversation and sharing of ideas in a bid to help grow and sustain partnerships between the two industries. This is achieved through curated, invitation-only events that focus on informal conversation and genuine networking. There are also roundtable discussions, intimate dinners and a strategy-based book club.
The Dublin series will run on a quarterly basis under the direction of local ambassadors Catherine Bennett, retail account manager at Twitter and Sinéad Burke, the brains behind MinnieMelange.com. It kickstarted last night with Twitter as returning sponsor, following a successful first run during Web Summit in 2015.
“We are thrilled to officially be launching #FashMash in Dublin after two very successful years bringing this community together during Web Summit, and we’re honoured to have Twitter back again as a sponsor. The fashion industry’s future relies entirely on its ability to embrace the role technology and digital media is playing, and the most impactful way that is going to occur is through collaboration. If there’s one thing we’ve learnt from our existing network in both London and New York, it’s that we are all facing the same challenges, but forging new paths is that much easier together,” said Rachel Arthur, founder of the global #FashMash series and Fashionandmash.com.
“Dublin’s fashion landscape and its tech ecosystem are heaving with extraordinary talent and opportunity, but rarely do the two industries meet. #FashMash is a deliberate attempt to bring both together so that collaboration and growth can occur in the most implicit and explicit of ways,” Sinéad explained.
The #FashMash community is comprised of over 300 global members holding digital, e-commerce and marketing positions across the fashion and retail space. The events draw brands ranging from Burberry and Net-a-Porter to DKNY, Kate Spade, Primark, Topshop, Westfield and more.
Attendees in Dublin last night included those from Brown Thomas, Penneys, Littlewoods, Arnotts, Zalando, OPSH, Love & Robots, Twitter, Google and The Web Summit.
