5 Colourful Handbags From The High Street

A colourful?handbag is such a simple way to pep up an?outfit, especially in winter when most of us rely on a’seasonal uniform of black, navy and charcoal. Fortunately, the high-street continues to excel in terms of the quality and design of its accessories, so you can invest in two or three more playful pieces?for the price of one designer item. Here are five of my favourites.

Texture is a big trend for AW16, so this tactile piece from & Other Stories feels just right. I’m a big fan of crossbody bags too, as they leave you hands free, and they just look a little more modern than conventional shoulder bags.

Fuchsia pink will add a real pop of colour to your look. But it’s a shade that can easily look cheap, so choose a bag?that has?a beautiful finish and minimal detailing. This gorgeous evening bag?has a jewel-embellished removable short strap, as well as a?long chain handle. And again, the cowhide adds a gorgeous textured finish perfect for the new season.

This lemon yellow leather shopper with double shoulder straps will work really well with petrol blues and slate greys. Be a little bit experimental with the colour palette of your clothes too for a unique and personalised look.

I like the graphic nature of this backpack, and the raspberry shade of red is much easier to pair with other colours (and with black) than fire-engine red, which can often look garish.

Rigid backpack, €19.95 at Zara

Another way of adding texture to your outfit is with a touch of fringing. This structured suede bag has different carry options -?a long crossbody strap, or inlaid handles. I prefer the latter as the piece?feels less Boho and more sophisticated.
