How To Wear White Jeans

How To Wear White Jeans

Despite being branded anti-fashion over the years (I blame Elizabeth Hurley), white jeans are a great trans-seasonal piece. I have two pairs in my wardrobe, skinny and flair, which I pair with super-soft T-shirts in shades of slate grey and taupe. The trick to looking cool rather than twee in white jeans is to anchor them with earthy shades. That way, they feel much more “street” than “Sloan”. Add in a couple of utilitarian accessories, and you’re good to go. Here are five of the best pairs of white denim.

Skinny jeans have a rock chic kind of vibe, even in white. The slashed knees of these Zara jeans add a grungy element, which softens the “Daz” white feel of the denims.

Choose a cropped style in a relaxed fit – they’ll look great worn with flat shoes. White denim can sometimes look a little fussy, so dressing them down creates just the right laid-back effect.

A tie-dye print adds depth to these denims, and a sightly bohemian feel, which you can play up or down. Either way, these jeans will make you look anything but “Sloany”.

Toughen up white denim by opting for a distressed pair. Great for weekend wear, pair them with trainers and an oversized sweatshirt. You can style them up for evening too with a silk tee and blazer (go for a shade softer than black).

Distressed Molly jeans, €55 at River Island

Choose a shade of chewing gum white instead of brilliant white for edgier appeal. I love how these jeans have been styled with double denim. Muddy whites also work better with black accessories.
