Sumptuous shearling worth saving up for

Sumptuous shearling worth saving up for

I aspire to own a sheepskin coat. I’ve been aspiring to this for a long time, since I lived in London in the noughties and found the most outrageously luxurious jacket in a North London boutique, which was so wildly out of my price range then that it was like something from an episode of Dynasty.

Despite the hefty cost of a shearling coat, I think if I found the perfect one, I would never regret a penny spent on it. They’re so tactile and cosy, but utterly chic too. Here a few shearling coats, I think are worth saving up for.

I adore this Zimmerman jacket; the colour, the mix of textures and the neat fit, which will work wonderfully over skinny jeans and pleated skirts. Of course, it’s also an outrageous price, but this piece will never go out of style. It’s definitely a forever find.

The amount of leopard print in the stores over the past six months slightly put me off the whole idea of animal print, but this gorgeous shearling jacket from Whistles has changed my mind. The subtle zebra stripes on each sleeve nod to the trend gently. This kind of slightly oversized shape is great for wearing over tuxedo trousers or skinny jeans.

This reversible gilet is down to €499 in the Uterque sale. I own a faux fur gilet in a similar length and I get incredible wear from it. It can be layered over jackets or sweaters, belted or left open so is a pretty versatile option.

The high street does shearling really well. This piece is from Topshop and looks like a great big bear hug. If I’m investing money in an expensive coat, I’d probably steer clear of white, but I couldn’t help adding it to this edit as it’s so chic and cosy. It’s a great price right now too.
