If you work in a corporate environment, summer workwear can be a tough sartorial nut to crack. It’s not enough to simply ditch the opaque tights and continue wearing a wool skirt. That’s a style oxymoron – choosing bare legs to deal with the rise in temperatures, then putting on a thick wool skirt, worn in winter to keep you warm, makes no sense at all. The key to relaxed, summer-friendly workwear is to change the fabrics you wear, and the silhouette you embrace. Fitted, formal-looking trousers can be replaced with smart but fluid culottes. A blazer can often look too uptight in warm weather, so opt for a fabulous shirt that can stand on its own or try a fine knit tank top.
