The most buzzed-about event in fashion — the Met Gala — is coming up on Monday.
Ahead of the star-studded soiree taking place at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City and hosted by Vogue editor Anna Wintour, Katy Perry, Pharrell Williams, Caroline Kennedy, Gisele Bundchen and Tom Brady, we’ve gathered a gallery of our favourite creations over the years. And while you’re enjoying the fashion, here’s what you need to know about the big event on Monday.
The evening will celebrate Japanese designer Rei Kawakubo, who is the subject of the latest Costume Institute exhibition, “Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garcons: Art of the In-Between.” Along with a who’s who of fashion designers, Brie Larson, Gwyneth Paltrow, Frances Bean Cobain, Courtney Love, Bella and Gigi Hadid, Chrissy Teigen, Dakota Johnson, Hailee Steinfeld, Lorde, Ruth Negga and many, many more will be walking the red carpet. Attendees are encouraged to dress in the spirit of the “avant-garde,” and half the fun is seeing how each one interprets the theme when they ascend the Met’s steps.
As usual, the event itself will take place late into the night on Monday with the time difference, starting around 10.30/11PM. You can watch what goes down on the carpet via Facebook Live. Vogue, which sponsors the extravaganza will have a 360-degree view of the event, E! will be doing some red carpet coverage also and IMAGE.ie will be covering the action on our Twitter feed, with a gallery on site afterwards and more coverage on Tuesday, so keep it here to make sure you don’t miss anything!
