The new editor of Image Interiors & Living tells us what to expect…

Today, my first issue as editor of Image Interiors & Living hits newstands around the country. As I wrote my first editor’s letter right before we went to print, I kept telling myself to play it cool, to not try too hard. But when you find yourself working at the helm of a magazine you utterly adore – then there’s no such thing as trying too hard, right?

Growing up in a circus, home was both a vitally important and a constantly shifting, ephemeral thing. It could be Carlow one week, Belfast the next. But no matter how far I travelled or how different our surroundings, home was always the same ??the linger of my mum’s perfume, the framed family photos, the pretty ceramics, displayed with pride.

This nomadic upbringing gave me passion for all things nest-related, and showed me just how comforting and important creating a personal space to call your own was. It also showed me that a home does not exist in bricks, mortar and an ever-growing collection of things – but rather, in the way we choose to express ourselves, no matter where our space might be.

We’ve posted a sneak peek of the issue here – scroll through for a taster. The team poured so much passion, creativity and just plain ol? hard work into this issue that I’m fit to burst with pride. I’m particularly happy that it features Irish homes brimming with creativity and self-expression, as well interviews with so many up-and-coming Irish creatives.

The July/August issue is an ode to living well, to finding the beauty in the familiar, and to taking the time to enjoy it, so I hope you do. I would love to hear what you think on our Facebook and Twitter pages!
