4 seaside homes in Co Donegal for less than €100,000

4 seaside homes in Co Donegal for less than €100,000

Looking for a home with a view? There are plenty of houses for sale in Donegal that are minutes from the beach and with a price tag of less than €100,000.

There are few places more beautiful than Donegal’s coastline – rugged and tough looking but with scenic views at every turn.

Whether you’re looking for a proper fixer upper or something to move into straight away, Donegal’s got plenty of homes for sale for under €100,000 that are within spitting distance of the sea. Here are just a handful.

Gola Island, €95,000

Located on the sparsely populated Gola Island along Donegal’s west coast, this house is certainly a fixer upper. Coming with 4.5 acres of land and a number of outhouses, it’s ripe for a renovation to anyone who is up for a challenge. Located on the east shore of the island and unoccupied for some time, the 90-square-metre house has four bedrooms.

There’s no modern bathroom in it as the island was unpopulated for some time, but people are now returned to live on the island once again. Gola Island is serviced by a scheduled ferry from Bunbeg pier during the summer or by local request.

Greencastle Cove, €59,950

This Scandinavian-style log cabin is one of a number built in a popular holiday park on the tip of Donegal’s north coast. The park is fully serviced and managed and its facilities include a tennis court, football pitch, play park and cafe.

With a beach to one side and a golf course to the other, the 65-square-metre home has three bedrooms and two bathrooms, as well as a modern fitted kitchen, gas central heating and double-glazed windows. Outside is a little decking area and space for two cars to park.

Brinaleck, €79,000

Right on the corner of Donegal’s north-west coast, this is a neat, traditional cottage just a few minutes walk from the beach. Located in the heart of Donegal’s Gealtacht area, it’s not as small as it looks with a 85 square metres of space that includes three bedrooms and one bathroom.

The interiors are a little dated (there’s an avocado bathroom set) but nothing that couldn’t be quickly modernised. The place has its own septic tank and is connected to the water mains and high-speed broadband has recently arrived to the region, with a connection just a few metres from the house.

Keadue Strand, €95,000

Located just a very short walk from Keadue Strand and its many tiny beaches, this home is in good knick and is ready to move in. Tucked away from the prevalent breezes that strike Donegal’s west coast by a small peninsula, its sheltered sandy shores would make an ideal escape or holiday home.

With three bedrooms and two bathrooms, it’s got some stunning views across the strand. The house has been on sale for over a year and the price dropped in January 2020 from €110,000 to €95,000.
