Cobie Smulders Reveals Cancer Battle

Star of How I Met Your Mother, Cobie Smulders has spoken out about her brave battle with ovarian cancer at the age of 25. The gorgeous Cobie who plays Robin in the popular sitcom spoke for the first time about her scary experience in an interview with Women’s Health.

Thankfully, Smulders beat the cancer, however she admits that she still fears it might one day return, a worry that most cancer survivors would harbour.??I don’t think I’ll ever feel like I’m cancer-free” she explains to the magazine.

For two years – beginning during season 3 of HIMYM – the actress endured numerous surgeries to remove all traces of the cancer from her body.???I had tumors on both ovaries, and the cancer had spread into my lymph nodes and surrounding tissues.? She maintained her role as Robin throughout this difficult time, which is something that, in our view, takes real guts.

Now an inspiration to women everywhere, Cobie looks upon her cancer battle as something to learn from:??Now that I’m five years out, I’m trying to think of it as a positive thing and what can I learn from it. And if I can create more awareness, I’ll do it.?

By speaking out about her experience, she’s doing just that.
