Insightful Comic Tells Us About Living With Depression And Anxiety

We’ve reported many times on anxiety and depression and the drastic effects these can have on your mental health and wellbeing. We can write, read and inform ourselves about them, but unless you’re actually dealing with these?yourself, it can be difficult?to visualise what it is like to carry’such a heavy burden. To suffer from each is to struggle with?an invisible weight that can be difficult to express, but a little insightful comic has gone viral around the web for doing exactly that. Here we have a comic?of a young girl as she struggles with both anxiety and depression, and though its intention is to spread a positive message?around what can be such a dark topic, the seriousness of the issue is never forgotten.

For Episode 21 of The Medical Tales Retold, Nick Seluk of The Awkward Yeti drew an informative and entertaining comic that was submitted by Sarah Flanigan (based on her real-life experiences), in hopes of shedding some light on what it’s like to live with these mental health issues on a daily basis. The comic ultimately attempts to portray that despite daily struggles with motivation, emotions and energy, there can always a be glimmer of hope that you’ll come out the other side.

We think it really hits the nail on the head. See it below:
