Powerful Photograph Of Crying Boy Goes Viral

This powerful photograph (above) of a young teenage boy crying along with the caption: ?I’m homosexual and I’m afraid about what my future will be and that people won’t like me,? has gone viral over the weekend.

Over 50,000 people have responded to the emotional and powerful post on the Humans of New York Facebook page, which captures ordinary people on the streets of New York City.

The young boy’s photo was snapped by photographer Brandon Stanton and posted on Saturday, and since it went live it has received almost half a million likes and over 50,000 comments, the bulk of which have been overwhelmingly positive. The picture has struck a chord with almost everyone who has seen it, including some very high-profile names.

Ellen DeGeneres and US Democrat presidential election candidate Hillary Clinton both offered messages of support to the as of yet unnamed boy in the snap. ?Not only will people like you, they’ll love you. I just heard of you and I love you already,? DeGeneres wrote. Her comment has been liked over 30,000 times.

Hilary Clinton’s message was equally positive and supportive: ?Prediction from a grown-up: Your future is going to be amazing. You will surprise yourself with what you’re capable of and the incredible things you go on to do. Find the people who love and believe in you – there will be lots of them. ?H.?

The post comes after an emotional time for the US as same-sex marriage was legalised in 50 states last week. Commenters have been commenting in droves in an attempt to reach out to the young boy and it’s so uplifting to see that so many are offering so many kind words.

The most touching responses have come from ordinary folk who are keen to send their uplifting words to the boy so obviously upset in the picture. ?If you were my son, I’d love you just the same and I’d be the proudest dad,? said one comment.

It’s uplifting to see such a positivity come from the whole thing.
