Raising The Bar: How To Elevate Your Bar This Christmas

bar

A beautifully styled bar cart adds a generous measure of glamour to all gatherings. Siobhan Lam, owner of online interiors store April and the Bear, suggests how to elevate yours…

First things first – every home bar needs a decanter, if not several, and if you can source something a little different, all the better – a smoked decanter, for example. Cocktail glasses should reside here also – I love the look of glass tumblers stacked next to an array of decanters and colourful spirit bottles.

For texture and height, I like to add a simple vase with some blooms – my preference would be eucalyptus leaves. Also, consider adding a metallic side light or candles to the bar – this will create a moody ambience, and the light will reflect beautifully on all the glass surfaces.

Lastly, add some bold art, either propped on the bar or hung just above – something abstract, like the art of our Danish artist Tina Rud Pedersen, looks incredibly chic, or try something a little cheekier – our “Gin is My Catnip” print would work well. This really defines the bar area and gives the space its own distinct personality.

Another absolute essential would be our drink rocks by Areaware – these are simple stone shapes that chill your cocktail without diluting it, and they just so happen to look really cool!
