How To: The Art of Gift Wrapping

Screen Shot 2015-12-03 at 15.51.03

If you’re looking for some gift wrapping inspirations or some simple ribbon tutorials to make your presents look extra pretty under the Christmas tree, look no further; we have you covered. We’ve gone nuts with sparkly paper, neatly taped to perfection, complete with an extra impressive selection of bows and ties, all of which we’ve been trialling and testing and adding to our arsenal.

We have gathered the best of the Instagram wrapped presents so yours look just as fabulous. And when it comes to tying the perfect ribbon, we’ve even dug into our IMAGE archives; you’ll be surprised what 1975 had in store for us!

This cute little wrapping idea might take a little bit of work, but how adorable does it look? If you were to gift that to anybody, they would be more impressed by your wrapping skills than the present inside it.

This wrapping idea is also a simple one, but we all love a bit of three dimensional wrapping. We also love the contemporary aspect of replacing a bow with dangling decorations. So get your Origami game on and enjoy staying in when the weather is grim to let your creative side out.

For the ulternative present wraper, if you want to step away from the ribbon, these glittery feathers evoke Christmas and you’re bound to then find glitter all over the house for the next weeks, embrace it while we last is our best advice!

This Scandinavian inspired present wrapping is everything we love, simple but so beautiful. Those gorgeous winter walks in the woods are bound to pay off with beautiful foliages, so get harvesting to not only decorate your presents but also your chimney and Christmas table. Anything from beautiful red berries to pine tree greens will work like magic.

Lush have inspired us we’re their initiative of wrapping gifts in a beautiful little foulard. This idea of theirs is based on an ancient Japanese Tradition called furoshiki. This environmental friendly way of wrapping is quirky and is a gift that keeps on giving. Picture courtesy of Lush

Now for the art of tying a bow, here are a few step by step tutorials which we have tried and can say that are totally doable (promise).

The Classic Bow

A beautiful and perfect big bow is so satysfying on a present, it gives it a little bit of luxury, even if what’s inside cost less than a tenner.

This bow is a little more tricky, but the good news is, even if you get it a little wrong it still looks good.

Repeat this process again and again for the ultimate effect. This little step by step tutorial was extracted from our first ever IMAGE Magazine December issue in 1975.
