The Perfect Way to Start Your Summer

A combination of bootcamp and a rejuvenating spa treatment is just what the doctor ordered…

A day spent rejuvenating at Powerscourt Hotel Resort & Spa, taking in those breathtaking Sugarloaf views, is the undisputed antidote to cure whatever’s ailing you. Just last weekend, we were invited to make the half an hour journey (it’s literally on our doorstep) down to Wicklow to try out their latest summer offering; Beachbody Bootcamp.

Before you run for the hills, let us remind you that the bootcamp aspect is followed swiftly by a gorgeous lunch (which we enjoyed in the comfort of our fluffy spa robes), complete use of their luxurious spa facilities and a 1 hour and 50 minute detoxifying body ritual. Though it might be the relaxing treatment that has you most excited, the bootcamp with Sam was all kinds of fun.

At 11.30am, we had braced ourselves for an hour of pure torture, but it was anything but. Sam’s bootcamp circuit took place on the stunning lawns of the hotel, the sun was shining, the fountain was dancing quietly in front of us and the workout was totally invigorating. After an enjoyable mix of kettle bells, flipping tires and bodyweight exercises, we had well and truly earned our treatment. Sam is encouraging, attentive and inspiring.

After our luxury personal training session, it was off to the spa for lunch. Suffice to say, despite being only a half an hour from the city, it felt as though we were a world away from the hustle and bustle. Their warm and friendly staff catered to our every need before guiding us towards the most tranquil pool area we’ve ever experienced. With low, relaxing lighting and perfectly warm waters, you’ll be hard pushed to pull yourself away, but luckily with this particular package, you’ve got your detoxifying treatment to look forward to.

Using the best of ESPA products, this unforgettable treatment combines a body wrap and massage to detoxify the body and restore balance. ?Following a body exfoliation, a detoxifying algae is applied, and the scalp is gently massaged. ?Then it was straight into a hot shower to wash away the algae, followed by a detoxifying aromatherapy massage, during which this writer fell into the deepest of slumbers.

If it’s the nicest way to ease you into your summer health kick that you’re after, complete with a little luxury, we couldn’t recommend this enough. Where else would you get a world class treatment that goes on for almost 2 hours, a personal training session on the lawns of a 5 star luxury resort, a three course lunch AND unlimited use of an amazing spa for €155 per person? Yes, that’s a rhetorical question.
