VENUE The Chocolate Factory, Dublin

PHOTOGRAPHY Katie Farrell Photography

WORDS Katie Phelan

THE HAPPY COUPLE They are Siobhan McManus from Portmarnock and Oscar Stewart from Ballsbridge. They live in Howth and met about 12 years ago, on the dance floor at the Vaults nightclub in Dublin.

That their wedding be sustainable and cruelty-free was of vital importance to Siobhan and Oscar. In addition to a lipsmacking vegan menu, prepared by Bl’s caf? at the Chocolate Factory, the couple extended the theme to their entire bash. Siobhan’s explanation for this is entirely sound: “We wanted to generate as little waste as possible.”PicMonkey Collage 1

So handmade pom-poms, huge paper lanterns, mismatched crockery and a hand-knitted rug, once part of the event’s mise-en-sc?ne, are now re-used in the couple’s home. A pre-ceremony shoot beside Sutton’s Martello tower provided a stunning opportunity to capture the pair’s love. In addition to their environmental do-goodery, Siobhan and Oscar did well by their budget too. By DIYing every gorgeous detail, the duo created a warm and welcoming vibe that didn’t break the bank.

PicMonkey Collage 2THEIR SUPER SUPPLIERS…Siobhan and Oscar are quick to single out Tuathall at Bl’s caf? for his particular skill set.

THEY WISH THEY HAD…Relaxed a little more; getting stressed?out by tiny details makes no sense in the greater scheme of things. We second that.
