A new drug that’s been deemed the ?Female Viagra’ could soon hit our shelves if it gets official approval in the states.? This would be the first ever Viagra-type drug developed solely to boost the female libido.? It all depends now on whether the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) gives ?flibanserin’ the go-ahead.
The drug is designed to boost the low sexual desire of otherwise healthy women, according to the FDA. A committee voted just this week to recommend that the FDA approve the drug with conditions. A decision is expected on this by the end of the summer, but the drug has been rejected twice in the past, as the committee said that potential side effects of fainting, nausea, dizziness, sleepiness and low-blood pressure outweighed the benefits of the drug, which has been said to have only a “moderate” or “marginal” effect on boosting the female sex drive.

However, according to the Washington Post, the FDA heard from an emotional group of women suffer from low sexual desire, a condition called Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder, and hence, majority of committee members said that “with proper warning labels and education, the drug, even with a moderate benefit, should be made available to women who now have nothing.”
Talking about the effects of trialing the drug, after 24 weeks, they said, 46 to 60 percent of the women in the trials had benefited from the flibanserin treatment. They described the new drug as “unmet medical need.”
ICYMI: How Often Should You Wash Your Bra?
According to some statistics we’ve looked into, as many as 43 percent of women have experienced some sexual dysfunction, which includes a drop in your libido. This is a hugely high statistic. And why shouldn’t women get a helping hand in this regard? Men do, so it’s only fair that women get the same chance at treatment.
We also want to point out that the FDA approved Viagra for men in 1998 (and a host of similar products over the years), but nothing of a similar vein has been available for women.? So not good.
