Karl Lagerfeld, Cara Delevingne and Pharrell Williams in a room together equals potential magic. Next week at the M?tiers d?art collection in Salzburg, Karl Lagerfeld will be unveiling a Chanel film, Reincarnation, starring the model of the moment and the singer with the Midas touch.
Dazeddigital.com reports that the film in question retraces the history of the iconic Chanel jacket. Coco Chanel, played by Geraldine Chaplin, is on her holidays when she gazes upon her lift operator’s jacket. Pharrell is the well-dressed bellboy in question and then in a sure-to-be beautiful dream sequence he transforms into the Emperor of Austria, Franz Joseph I, and dances with his wife, the Empress Elisabeth ?Sisi? AKA Cara Delevingne.
There’s waltzing, impeccable uniforms, diaphanous gowns, and an exclusive Pharrell soundtrack. The Get Lucky singer has written a song specifically for Karl called ?CC the World? and duets with Cara – this marks the model’s first major foray into music after months of her hinting she wants to work beyond modelling. She’s guested on songs in the past, but more as a very special guest star as opposed to a fully-fledged singer. So far we’re liking the haunted feel of Reincarnation – Lagerfeld even told wwd.com he sent Pharrell “all kinds of Viennesse music” to help him get in the period drama mood.
What do you make of the teaser Chanel debuted on Instagram today? Has Pharrell another chart-topping on his hands? And does Cara have the pipes to leave the catwalk behind?
