The Grand Palais was transformed into a retro supermarket yesterday by the Kaiser for the Chanel show at Paris Fashion Week. Hardly a stranger to high-concepts, the last few years have seen the models walk runways based around The Forest and The Apocalypse, this year marked a playful departure that one could only but delight in.
This colourful supermarché was home to Chanel branded produce – we wonder were the teabags were any decent – and there was even a gold Chanel chainsaw for those looking to engage in some haute couture gardening. Cara Delevingne was one of the main attractions, wearing neon pink and an oversized tweed coat. Other models teamed sports luxe with classic staples and had the novelty job of carrying baskets and pushing high-end trolleys in this fashion week show that will be remembered for quite some time.
Our favourite ensemble was the couple that cut a very traditional dash through the aisles. Her? Head to toe pink tweed with metallic lace-up boots. Him? Dapper suit and laden down with Chanel shopping bags, an ideal man.
Wearing pyjamas to the shops is no longer an option.
