Grant Thornton report on RTÉ’s Tubridy pay due today
The Grant Thornton report on the understatement by RTÉ of Ryan Tubridy’s earnings by €120,000 between 2017 and 2019 is expected to be published today. The RTÉ board met yesterday to discuss the final version of the report, which they received on Monday. Minister for Media Catherine Martin was said to be examining the report after speaking with RTÉ Chairperson Siún Ní Raghallaigh. Meanwhile, the latest figures show that RTÉ suffered another steep fall in TV licence revenue with sales falling by nearly €900,000 in the second week of August, compared with the same week last year.

Bank of Ireland says it has restored services overnight following widespread outage
Bank of Ireland has said it “fell far below” the expected standard following a widespread outage of its services yesterday. In a statement this morning, BOI said it restored its banking services overnight and apologised for the disruption caused following the glitch with BOI’s online services. Large queues formed at ATMs across the country yesterday evening after rumours spread online that people were able to withdraw more money than they had available in their BOI accounts. Gardaí were directed to clear queues and to close access to ATM queues following the outage. The bank said this morning that its mobile banking app and 365Online service are working again.

Inquest into death of schoolboy who was found dead after music festival announced
An inquest will be held into the circumstances surrounding Matthew McCallan’s disappearance and death, the Coroner’s Service has said. The 15-year-old from Co Tyrone was found dead in a ditch outside Fintona late last year after attending a country music festival with friends. His frantic family and scores of volunteers spent almost two days searching for him after he was reported missing on December 4. His body was found by a local woman the following day. It was one of the coldest nights of the winter, and an initial post-mortem examination found Matthew died of hypothermia.

Twitter appears to delay links by five seconds to sites Elon Musk dislikes
Social media giant Twitter appeared to apply a five-second delay that would slow access to sites – a process known as throttling – including to the New York Times, Reuters, Instagram and Blue Sky, another social network, the Washington Post reported on Tuesday. The sites with slowed links included competitors to Twitter and news publications that have been on Twitter owner Elon Musk’s bad side due to critical reporting. The Washington Post tested the delays and found that if someone clicked a link on Twitter that would send them to another site, the link would open to a blank screen that lasted for a few seconds.
