Child and family agency Tusla has been unable to locate records about a baby girl who spent time in St Gerard’s institution in Dublin in 1936. The institution housed unmarried mothers and their children in the 1920s and 1930s.

Prisoner dies following Mountjoy cell assault

Robert O’Connor, aged 34 was attacked by at least three other prisoners in Dublin’s Mountjoy Prison days after his latest sentence was imposed. On a ventilator since last Friday, he has died in hospital. A number of suspects have been identified and are being investigated.
