Bang Bang cafe raise €20,000 in 24 hours for Christmas presents for children in Direct Provision

Bang Bang Cafe in Phibsborough are raising money to provide Christmas presents for children in Direct Provision in Ireland. In 24 hours they have raised €20,000.

This year has been hard, but it would have been much harder if you were a child in a Direct Provision Centre. This Christmas, Bang Bang Cafe in Phisborogh wants to make sure these children know they are not forgotten.

In 2018, the socially conscious cafe managed to get gifts to almost 100 children in Clondalkin Direct Provision Centre, and last year they more than doubled their achievement, and gave gifts to 500 kids, as well throwing a party in Dalymount thanks to Refugee and Migrant Solidarity Ireland and Bohemian FC.

This year they have set their target at providing gifts for 1000 children – children without the things other children take for granted.

Want to get involved?

Bang Bang have set a target of €30,000 (€30 for each child) and they will then work with toy retailers and one-for-all to get gifts for all children.

You can donate quickly and easily here.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, Bang Bang Cafe will be taking the majority of donations online. If you are within the 5km of Bang Bang Phibsboro you can drop gifts in. Bang Bang request new and unwrapped gifts only please, they cannot accept very large items, or any second hand items whatsoever.

This is a joint collaboration between Bang Bang who are leading on the call-out for donations; Bohemian Football Club where all gifts will be sorted, stored and packed and who will also promote; DHL Express Ireland who have agreed once again to deliver the packages to the centres across Ireland; and MASI who are co-ordinating the list of children and on the ground contacts.
