From Pride parades to film festivals, here are 5 things to do around Ireland this weekend

As we all know, having to work while the sun splits the stones outside is a unique form of torture. Thankfully, the weekend is stretching out in front of us and it’s time to get planning.
Schweppes at The Big Grill, Herbert Park
Thursday 11 – Sunday 14 August
Schweppes is bringing the fizz to The Big Grill festival with a host of exciting lineup of acts and DJs as mixologists stir up daring cocktail combinations across the weekend. At the Schweppes Ultimate Mixer Stage, you’ll find music from the likes of January Winters, Tara Kumar and Toshín, among others. Have a look at the festival programme right here.
Boyne Valley International Film Festival
Friday 12 and Saturday 13 August
Set against the beautiful backdrop of the Boyne Valley, the two-day inaugural Boyne Valley International Film Festival is set to feature the best short films from around the country, and the world, with a special focus on films made in the region. Shining a light on the work of talented writer, director and producer Roisin Kearney, they’ll be screening a selection of her shorts across the weekend. Check out the full list of events right here.
Swiftogeddon: The Taylor Swift Club Night at The Grand Social

Swifties of Ireland, unite! Come on, anyone who’s partial to a bit of Taylor Swift will simply combust into a ball of flames at the mere mention of a whole night dedicated to the one and only, so get this one into the groupchat ASAP. Galway Community Pride Parade
Saturday, 13 August
Pobál Bród na Gaillimhe have been hosting fantastic events throughout the week, and it’s all culminating in a colourful march through the city this Saturday. Setting off from City Hall at 1pm, attendees will walk through the streets of Galway, finishing up in Fr. Burke Park at 3pm. A free event that’s a true celebration of the LGBTQIA+ community, make sure to register to take park right here.
Cobh People’s Regatta
Sunday 14 August
This annual maritime themed festival is returning to the beautiful seaside town of Cobh for the last regatta of the summer sailing season. In true tradition, it will feature a host of dinghy and cruiser racing but there’ll be plenty of fun for all the family on the shore with live music on the big stage and lots of craic all around the town.
