Johnny Depp posts new statement and thanks fans on TikTok

Johnny Depp has created a TikTok account to share a new message with supporters following his victory in the defamation trial against Amber Heard, his ex-wife.

With nearly 4 million followers on the verified account created on Tuesday, he thanked his “treasured, loyal and unwavering supporters”

“To all of my most treasured, loyal and unwavering supporters. We’ve been everywhere together, we have seen everything together. We have walked the same road together. We did the right thing together, all because you cared. And now, we will all move forward together. You are, as always, my employers and once again I am whittled down to no way to say thank you, other than just by saying thank you. So, thank you. My love & respect, JD.”

The video shows him travelling to the court in Virginia, supporters lining the streets and behind the scenes of his performance on stage with Jeff Beck.

This is Johnny Depp’s second statement since he first posted a statement on Instagram shortly after a civil jury in Virginia found that Heard had libeled him. His statement on Instagram currently has over 18 million likes, with many celebrities liking the post, including Patti Smith, Bella Hadid, Gemma Chan, Naomi Campbell, Emma Roberts, Rita Ora, Jason Momoa, Jennifer Aniston, Taika Waititi, Paris Hilton and Eva Green.

That statement read: “Six years ago, my life, the life of my children, the lives of those closest to me, and also, the lives of the people who for many, many years have supported and believed in me were forever changed. All in the blink of an eye.”

“From the very beginning, the goal of bringing this case was to reveal the truth, regardless of the outcome. Speaking the truth was something that I owed to my children and to all those who have remained steadfast in their support of me.”

Amber Heard’s statement currently has 423k likes, and celebrities including Selma Blair, Jason Momoa, Kate Nash and Lena Headey have liked it.

Johnny Depp has joined TikTok a week after winning $15 million in damages from Heard after a unanimous jury in Fairfax, Virgina ruled she defamed Depp in a 2018 Washington Post op-ed which alluded to claims of domestic violence but did not name Johnny Depp. The jury awarded Amber Heard $2 million in compensatory damages for her counterclaim.
