Networking Event: ‘Pitch Perfect: Mastering the Art of Public Speaking’

Are you ready to elevate your public speaking skills? Join us for an enlightening evening on June 5, where you'll hear from the experts and learn how to master speeches and presentations, enhance your communication skills and discover how to make a lasting impact.

They call it a ‘soft’ skill, but public speaking can be hard… and a bit of a minefield to navigate. What’s more, there are so many reasons in modern business where we may need to address groups of people – from board rooms to ballrooms.

Join us for the next IMAGE Business Club Live event at The Westbury Hotel on the evening of Wednesday, June 5 to finesse your public speaking skills. Led by Rowan Manahan AKA The Presenter Mentor, we’ll learn how to shine at pitches, make an impact in meetings, and communicate in front of large groups with confidence. We’ll look at presenting on virtual calls and overall, how to demystify a whole area that can bring anxiety to the most accomplished of businesswomen.

We’ll also chat with Diarmuid McSweeney, co-founder of athleisure brand Gym+Coffee about what he’s learned on public speaking through his career, and the different skills that come into play for varying business scenarios.

As always, the evening will start with Malfy Gin and Fever Tree cocktails, and a chance to catch up with your IMAGE Business Club community. There’ll be plenty of opportunities to meet our speakers, plus a prize on the night and a gift bag for everyone on departure.

Tickets are available, exclusively to IMAGE Business Club members on a first come, first-served basis.

Schedule

6pm – 7pm: Network over Malfy & Fever-Tree cocktails and canapés

7pm – 8.30pm: An information conversation with our experts

Meet the speakers

Rowan Manahan, Founder and MD, RowanManahan.com

Rowan Manahan transforms his clients’ narratives, delivery, and above all, attitude to public speaking. He has been railing against bad presenters, self-indulgent speaking, and death by PowerPoint for over 20 years and, to look at the waves of appalling communication out there, he has been about as successful as King Canute. Nevertheless, he soldiers on…

Prior to founding his consulting firm, Rowan worked in a multinational environment, gaining experience in strategic roles at global and regional levels. He is the author of two best-selling careers books, serves as an adjunct lecturer with a range of Irish and European universities, and brings a pragmatic focus to his training, lectures and seminars.

He has contributed to pitches, roadshows, keynotes, and profile-building with everything from nascent start-ups to huge corporates, and everything in between; honing their stories and working with speakers on their presence, staging, and delivery. He also speech writes in every sphere except politics and prepares clients for media appearances on television, radio and in print. Some of those clients call him ‘The Presenter Mentor’, and others (many others!) ‘The Insultant’.

Diarmuid McSweeney, Co-Founder and Chief Marketing & Community Officer, Gym+Coffee

Diarmuid McSweeney is part of the dynamic trio behind the highly successful Irish athleisure brand Gym+Coffee. With a background in advertising and a degree in commerce from University College Cork, he’s drawn on his skill and experience to take on the roles of co-founder, chief marketing officer and community officer.

Diarmuid founded Gym+Coffee in 2017 alongside his friends and business partners Niall Horgan and Karl Swaine on a mission to bring high-quality athletic clothing to a nation that was quickly making the corner café and Ireland’s stunning natural landscape their new social hubs. Launched just seven years ago, they’ve achieved a lot since then – having sold two million items in Ireland alone. They’ve also recorded a 20% year-on-year online growth across the UK and Ireland and have served customers in more than 80 countries. Most recently, they welcomed their one-millionth customer in-store.

Throughout his career, Diarmuid has honed his public speaking talents to help grow the brand into the thriving international business it is today. He has a passion for sharing his learned knowledge with other business owners, especially focusing on the different skills that come into play for varying business scenarios.
