Taxi fares
From today, the National Transport Authority has confirmed that taxi fares have increased by an average of 12%. All taxis must now legally accept card payment.
Prepay Power
Energy provider PrepayPower has announced gas and electricity price increases for consumers. The increase is set to come in at 19% for electricity, and 29% for gas from next month. There will also be an additional charge of €339 to the average electricity bill and €428 to the average gas bill.
Appeal for information on missing Kildare man
Pawel Konieczny, 53, was last seen at his home in Newbridge, Co Kildare on Tuesday afternoon. He is described as being 6 foot tall, of medium build with brown hair and green eyes, with distinctive tattoos on his left arm.
Stephen Donnelly
Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly has admitted his failure to renew a rental property registration with the Residential Tenancies Board. In a statement, his spokesperson said this was due to “an oversight” and had been corrected online “last week”.
Leaving Cert grades
This year’s Leaving Certificate grades are set to be at least as high as last year’s record-breaking results. This has fueled concern within universities over the use of random selection for high-points courses. Results will be issues at 10am on Friday morning.
