‘Toy Show’ treasure Adam King to star in his own animated series set in space
16th Jun 2021
Young Adam King is set to be the star of a new cartoon inspired by him and his love of space.
The nation was first introduced to Adam King on last year’s Late Late Toy Show. Winning us all over with his wide-eyed innocence and dreams of becoming a CAPCOM or NASA mission controller one day, he’s continued to hold us under his spell since then.
Cementing his status as our new national treasure, he quickly became the country’s poster child and between his virtual hug sign and seemingly endless positivity, he’s been the source of many a smile over the past few months. Now giving us all yet another reason to smile, Adam and his family announced that he’s soon to star in his very own cartoon!
Sharing the exciting news with everyone over on Instagram yesterday evening, Adam’s family revealed that they’ve partnered with Kavaleer Productions for a new series all about the Cork youngster.
“We are DELIGHTED to announce a new partnership with @kavaleer_insta to develop a NEW animated series inspired by and starring Adam as the main character!”
The first wheelchair-user protagonist of an Irish children’s programme, the cartoon is important for many reasons and Adam’s family hope it will “inspire, educate and entertain children across the world and universe”.
“This pre-school adventure comedy series is set in space but with an environmental twist. We are so excited to work with @croonytoons Gary and all the team at Kavaleer on this exciting project. Not only that – but our friend & Citizen Scientist @spacenorah will be advising on the show too. Amazing!!!
“As parents we believe in the importance and power of representing difference in the stories we tell our children. For Adam to be the first Irish cartoon hero to use a wheelchair is truly wonderful. We are are so thankful to all the team at Kavaleer, we knew from day one our values were totally aligned! We can’t wait to go on this adventure with you all.”
Titled Adam <3 Adventure, the series kicked off development back in April this year. Set to premiere in just a few months time, it will have its world debut at the prestigious Cartoon Forum in Toulouse, France this coming September.
Revisiting his friend Ryan Tubridy on The Late Late set just a few weeks ago, he joined the presenter for the last show of the year. Telling him all about the letter he received from Joe and Jill Biden, Adam said that they sent him a virtual hug all the way from the White House. Already with fans all around the world, we have no doubts that Adam’s cartoon will be an instant success.
